Website design cost calculator

Use this website design cost calculator to compare budgets for pages, layouts, integrations, writing and migration. Change the assumptions to see how each choice affects the build and ongoing care. AI Growth Systems provides an itemized planning estimate; a reviewed scope and written quote are needed before work begins.

How much does website design cost?

Website design cost depends on how many pages you need, how many unique layouts, which integrations and who writes the content. The calculator's starting example is 12 pages, 3 standard layouts, 2 integrations and your own copy at a $95 planning rate.

That comes to $8,303 to build, including a 15% contingency, plus $368 a month for hosting and care. Change any input to match your project.

Set your scope

01Describe the website

Count unique layouts separately from total pages. An integration means one standard connection; custom platforms need a separate scope.

All pages included in the build.

For example: homepage, service page, and article layout. Cannot exceed the total pages.

Design complexity

Template design allowance: 6 hours per layout multiplied by 1, 1.35, or 1.75.

Model: 8 hours each. Examples include one CRM connection or one booking embed.

Who supplies the page content?

Model: 0, 1, or 2 writing hours per page, in addition to page implementation.

A subset of your total pages. Model: 0.5 hours per migrated page, including URL mapping.

02Allow for delivery and ongoing care

The model includes 18 foundation hours and 2 implementation hours per page. All estimates need a scope review before a quote.

Illustrative assumption, not an approved company rate. Replace it with your own rate.

USD

An editable budget allowance. No software purchase or subscription is included automatically.

USD

Added separately to setup and monthly costs for scope uncertainty.

%

Use 0 if undecided. Compare this with setup plus 12 months of ongoing costs.

USD

Separate from the build. Covers the amount of ongoing care you choose to budget.

Behind the numbers
  1. Approve the 3 reusable layouts before building all 12 pages.
  2. Confirm the API access, licensing, and acceptance criteria for each of the 2 integrations. Custom applications and stores need separate scoping.
  3. Check mobile journeys, content, forms, and accessibility before publishing.

Questions about this tool

Common questions

How does the website design cost calculator work?

Our calculator adds 18 foundation hours, 2 hours per page, 6 per unique layout (more for custom or advanced design), 8 per integration, writing time if needed and half an hour per migrated page. It multiplies the hours by your selected rate, then adds the contingency to produce a planning estimate.

Is $95 an hour your price?

No. The $95 hourly rate is an editable starting assumption for planning, not our company price. Our published prices are on the pricing page. You can request a direct quote for the build or choose the separate $300 audit; using this calculator does not commit you to either service.

Why are hosting and maintenance shown separately?

Hosting and maintenance are monthly costs, while the build is a setup cost. Our calculator shows them on their own line so you can compare both commitments. It also combines setup with 12 months of recurring costs for a broader planning total, rather than treating monthly care as included in construction.

Can you build the website for the estimate?

We need to review the scope before confirming a build price. The calculator is a planning estimate; we check your pages, layouts and integrations, then provide a written quote. You can use the scope review form on this page or call us to discuss the work you need.

SEO, GEO, AEO and generative AI questions

Does the estimate include SEO setup?

Our model includes discovery, structure and page implementation, but it does not itemize a complete SEO campaign. We need to confirm titles, redirects, indexing checks, structured data and any ongoing search work in the project scope. The calculator total alone does not establish that each of those tasks is included.

Before you hire

Questions customers ask about Website design cost calculator

How much will my small business website cost?

Your cost depends on pages, layouts, design complexity, copy, integrations and migration. Our calculator lets you adjust those inputs to explore an illustrative setup and ongoing budget. We establish the actual price through a reviewed proposal, where the included work and any separate requirements can be confirmed together.

Which work and costs are included in the website estimate?

Our model covers planning, design, page implementation, standard integrations, writing and migration at your chosen rate. Hosting, maintenance and contingency appear separately so you can compare setup and recurring costs. These are planning allowances; we need a separate scope for custom work before establishing what a project quote includes.

Does the calculator include hosting and maintenance?

Yes. Our calculator shows an editable monthly hosting allowance and the maintenance hours you select. Those inputs help you plan recurring costs alongside the build. They do not purchase hosting, activate a support plan or establish response times; any actual hosting or maintenance service needs its own agreed terms.

How much do CRM and booking integrations add?

Our model allows eight hours per standard integration at the rate you select. That is a planning assumption for a standard connection. Complex CRM logic, custom applications, licenses and unusual booking requirements need separate review with us, so those costs and requirements are not hidden inside an ordinary integration allowance.

How does the calculator handle an ecommerce site?

Our standard model excludes ecommerce, so its estimate is not a complete online-store price. Product catalogs, checkout, payments, shipping, taxes and store integrations need separate scoping. Tell us which of those functions your business needs so we can review the requirements before providing a quote for the store.

Why do website prices vary so much between agencies?

Agencies may include different amounts of strategy, design, writing, integration, testing and ongoing support. We recommend comparing ownership, deliverables and exclusions alongside the price. Ask what each proposal actually covers, so you can judge apparently similar offers on the same basis and identify work that would be charged separately.

Does a bilingual website cost more?

It can, because additional pages, translation, language navigation and quality checks require work. Our calculator has no dedicated bilingual package. Include the relevant page count when exploring the budget, then confirm language and regional requirements with us in the proposal so both languages' content and review needs are properly scoped.

How long would a website at my estimated price take to build?

The calculator does not produce a delivery schedule, and its modeled hours are not a promised turnaround. We review scope, content readiness, access, integrations and approval responsibilities before agreeing on timing. A price estimate helps plan the budget; the project schedule also needs to account for those dependencies.

Can I compare the cost of a redesign with a new website?

Yes. Our calculator lets you compare a redesign scenario using the migration field with a new site using zero migration. Both may require discovery and content work. For a redesign, we also review URL mapping and useful assets to preserve, since an existing site's requirements extend beyond rebuilding its visible pages.
